At the time I bought my first house, I didn’t know anything about home repairs. Honestly, I could hardly change my own tire alone. In my first year, I l quickly learned to change the plumbing pipes, lay carpet and repair a leaky faucet. It was work but I managed to do okay. I found the internet has thousands of useful videos to watch for free. I found hundreds of DIY videos to help me with minor things. When I started having issues with the A/C unit, some videos advised a few easy steps to try first. I cleaned the debris from our outdoor compressor and I made sure the evaporator drain was cleared. Neither of those things helped repair the A/C unit. My mom told me to call a HVAC tech. The local HVAC company wanted $89.00 just to come to my house and tell me what was wrong. That’s a lot of money to pay for a diagnostic test but I was left with no other choices. I called the A/C service company and scheduled the appointment. The next morning, they came out to test my a/c system. Surprisingly, they performed some of the same steps I initially did. The A/C serviceman said that I needed a new kick switch. I didn’t have any idea what that was or how to fix it. He said it was by the outdoor HVAC component. It took less than an hour to fix the a/c system completely. When the HVAC technician left, my air conditioning system was working. I wouldn’t have been able to repair the air conditioner so I am beyond happy that I called.
