How to control comfort

In my home my air conditioning system has not been working properly. I have to decide whether it’s time to repair or replace my central air conditioning system. I cannot quite decide yet. I have lived in my home for 10 years and the air conditioner had been installed 5 years earlier. Most older air conditioners only last between 12 and 15 years if they have been maintained properly. The more modern ic’s can last even longer. The HVAC system I have has been repaired a couple of times and my utility bills have risen recently. I contacted my HVAC provider and spoke with one of the wonderful technicians who explained my options. She explained that I could replace one part or the other, but after all the options I decided it probably was best to replace the whole thing. I agreed to schedule an appointment to have a new high efficiency outdoor unit installed along with the indoor unit parts. I then questioned the technician to see if she was qualified to take care of what was needed. She had been an air conditioning technician for over 15 years after being certified. She actually had a couple of different certifications from national testing agencies. I knew after hearing that particular information that she was knowledgeable and I could trust her. I wanted to find out if the current air conditioner was the right size for my home and she explained that the one that had been installed was too small. She took all the information down about the size of my home, the age of the home, how many windows, insulation, and checked the local energy rates. She also recommended that I have an electrician come out and make sure our electrical system was set up properly for a new air conditioner to be installed. After speaking to her I agreed it was indeed time for a new air conditioner.
